RAIA: Navelim Sporting Club defeated Ambelim Sports Club by solitary goal to enter the final of the 45th St Joseph Festival football tournament played at Dramapur football ground, Dramapur on Tuesday. The all-important goal of the match was scored in the dying minutes by Atif Shaikh.
Earlier, Guardian Angel SC edged past St Anthony SC, Assolda, 7-6 via tie-breaker to enter the final.
Godwin Fernandes and Cyril Dias netted a goal each for Guardian Angel SC, while Vitorino Fernandes and Alreach Piexote were the scorers for the St Anthony SC.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Ryan Menezes, Godwin D’Costa, Ivo Costa, Cyril Dias and Gerito Fernandes netted for Guardian Angel SC, while Succour Fernandes, Richard Fernandes, Joaquim Carvalho and Akram Yadwad netted for St Anthony SC.
Navelim SC now will face Guardian Angel SC in the final on October 13.
