RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem scored a solitary goal win over hosts Uguem Rising Club in the 20th edition of inter-village football tournament organised by Uguem Rising Club at the Uguem Rising Club ground, Uguem, on Sunday.
In the fast paced match right from the word go and which was witnessed by a large festive crowd, both teams played their level best and kept the crowd on their toes throughout the 90 minutes of the game.
However, Nuvem Parish Youth managed to score the winning goal through the boots of Francisco Colaco in the 35th minute.
In retaliation, Uguem Rising Club came close to scoring in the fag end of the first half but the ball hit a rebound after hitting the goal post.
The winners pocketed a cash prize of Rs 65,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up had to be content with the runners-up prize of Rs 45,000 and a trophy.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar was the chief guest and Adv Pratima Coutinho and Fr Ivo Fernandes were the guest of honours. Social Activists Anthony Silva and Rama Kankonkar were special invitees.
