RAIA: Down by a goal, Raia Sporting Club fought brilliantly to defeat SCC Loutolim by 4-1 goals to emerge champions in the Bro Eulalio Vas memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at its ground on Sunday.
SCC Loutolim took an early lead through Ignatius D’Silva in the 3rd minute of the match. Later, Danny Fernandes equalised for Raia SC in the 15th minute.
Raia SC dominated the match thereafter and scored three more goals, through a brace from Achilles Fernandes and a goal from Velroy Borges.
Raia Sporting Club took home cash prize of Rs 60,000 plus trophy, while SCC Loutolim had to be content with a purse of Rs 40,000 and a trophy.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence Sporting Club de Goa Director Savio Medeira, Don Bosco Oratory Rector Fr Ralin de Souza, Don Bosco Oratory College of Engineering Director Fr Kinley de Cruz, Project Rice Director Fr George Quadros, Don Bosco Oratory Director Fr Leo Pereira Director, Confessor of Shrine Fr Thomas Fernandes, Goa Football Association member Andrew Ferrao GFA, other dignitaries and club officials.
