RAIA: SAI female boxers again did Goa proud at the REC Open Talent Sub Junior and Junior Boys and Girls Championship held at Noida, Uttar Pradesh, recently.

Suman Patil won a gold medal and championship in the Junior 46kg category defeating Delhi in the final 5-0. Savi Tadelkar another junior boxer, won a bronze in 42kg category losing to Haryana boxer in the semi-finals

Ruchi Divarkar, sub junior boxer lost to Uttarakhand boxer and had to also settle for a bronze medal. There were a total of 1,650 boxers.

The three Goan boxers, who are SAI hostelites, are trained by IBAS 1 Star Coach from SAI and will participate in the finals of the REC Open Talent Championships, which will be held at National Center of Excellence, Rothak, Haryana, in October.

“The Goa Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) is very proud of the coach and SAI boxers. They will be suitably felicitated. These open championships give boxers exposure and confidence and I am sure they will do very well at the forthcoming nationals,” stated GABA President Francis Viegas.
