RAIA: Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado, Cuncolim, edged past Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, 6-5 via tie-breaker to emerge champions in the 13th Our Lady of Fatima Soccer Cup organised by Dicarpale Sports Club at the Dicaraple ground, on Sunday.
Livon Clement gave an early lead to Fr Agnelo YSC in the 5th minute. Viraj Velip equalised for Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado of a pass from Daulat Dessai in the 15th minute.
At the end of regulation time, both teams were held to a 1-1 draw.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Viraj Velip, Mathew Fernandes, Bradley Carvalho, Ravesh Velip and Ansh Patel scored for Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado, while Melroy Fernandes, Kanchan Kiro, Omkar gaonkar and Reagan Costa shot on target for Fr Agnelo YSC.
Chief guest Goa Football Association (GFA) President Caetano Fernandes gave away the prizes in the presence of Dicarpale Parish Priest Fr Joaquim Fernandes, Velim MLA Cruz Silva, Manoj Dukle, Vallabh Varak, Bonifacio Carvalho, GFA Vice-President Anthony Pango and Cosme Oliveira. Earlier, Vincent Carvalho welcomed, later proposed a vote of thanks and also compered.
