SCC Loutolim to face Navelim SC in semi-final

RAIA: SCC Loutolim secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over United Boys of Ambaulim to enter into the semi-finals of 23rd edition of Bro Eulalio Vas memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at their ground, on Thursday.

In the first half, Stephen Fernandes and Lowrito Fernandes scored a goal each for United Boys of Ambaulim in the 20th and 32nd minute.

The turning point of the match came in the 51st minute when United Boys of Ambaulim defender brought down SCC Loutolim player in the danger area and Referee Mario Rebello blow the whistle and pointed the finger to the penalty spot.

The penalty kick was well converted by Flager Fernandes of SCC Loutolim to make it 2-1.

In the 54th minute, United Boys of Ambaulim player made a wrong tackle at the half line and free-kick was awarded by Referee Mario. Flager again came forward and took the shot and the ball dropped in front of the goalkeeper, which left him off guard, and landed into the netto level the score, 2-2.

The all-important goal came in the 56th minute. A corner kick taken by SCC Loutolim’s Darren Gomes was headed beautifully by Austin Fernandes after taking a high jump in the air to send the ball into the net.

SCC Loutolim will now meet Navelim Sporting Club in the semi-final on November 9.

Flager Fernandes of SCC Loutolim was awarded the man-of-the-match by Don Bosco Oratory member Santan Colaco.
