MAPUSA: A brilliant hat-trick by Schubert Pereira enabled Pax of Nagoa trounce Panjim Footballers by 4-0 margin in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.

With Sunday’s win Pax of Nagoa have six points, while Panjim Footballers are yet to open their account with both playing their fifth GPL match.

Pax of Nagoa went into the breather with two goals cushion with striker Schubert finding the net.

A curling free-kick by Nickson Castanha in the very 3rd minute was headed into the goal by Schubert, who netted his brace in the 35th minute, by slamming the ball into the goal off a square pass from Jesloy Moniz.

Two more chances went in vain for Pax of Nagoa where skipper Wendell Coelho’s goal-bound shot hit the far cross piece and went out. Minutes later, U-21 Sherwin Abranches sent a pinpoint cross to Stephen Satarkar, whose strike was blocked on the goalline by Panjim Footballers Shubham Vernekar.

Panjim Footballers too had their chances but strikers Shaviz Pathan and Richie Vaz were given very little space by Pax of Nagoa’s stopper backs Joseph Clemente and Sarino Fernandes upfront. In the stoppage time of the first session, Pax of Nagoa’s Desmon Gama timely thwarted Richie Vaz in one to one situation.

While Pax of Nagoa’s custodian Mahamad Ali came with full-stretched diving save to push Panjim Footballers’ Daren Andrade’s 25-yard strike for a corner.

Early at the start of the second session, Panjim Footballers had two chances to level terms but substitute Ajay Raj tapped the ball over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box, while a 30-yard strike by Jeff Dias on the way to the goal took a deflection of Pax of Nagoa’s Joseph Clemente for corner.

At the other end, Pax of Nagoa made it 3-0 where Sherwin Abranches shot hit Panjim Footballers Daren Andrade’s leg and entered the goal. In the 62nd minute, Schubert Pereira netted his hat-trick where his hot-blooded shot brushed Panjim Footballers custodian Vipin Sharma’s gloves and entered the goal, 4-0.
