PANJIM: Thunderstorm along with heavy rains cut short the clash between Sesa FA and Sporting Clube de Goa in the 25th minute of the Goa Professional League match played at Sirsaim ground, on Thursday.

Coming off a recent win over Geno FC, Sesa FA head coach Charles Dias made a solitary tweak, introducing Kirtikesh Gadekar to add steel in midfield.

Sporting Clube’s coach Armando Colaco, after a tight win over Goa Police took a different approach with four changes to his line-up.

Colaco entrusted Abhimanyu Singh in goal, integrated last game’s impact player Dhiraj Chouhan into defence and introduced Dattaraj Gaonkar as captain in the midfield alongside Selwyn Miranda on the left flank.

Sporting Clube came out strong, driving hard at Sesa FA’s defence in the first 10 minutes with aggressive pressure in the final third.

But Sesa FA’s backline held firm, repelling every attempt to keep the game scoreless. Seizing the moment, Sesa FA pushed forward in a bid for the opening goal, only to have Velito Rocha booked for a late challenge during their offensive burst.

Sesa FA’s midfield dominance grew as they pushed Sporting Clube back, but any hope of a decisive breakthrough was dashed when bad weather prompted Referee Sunil Nanodkar to call a halt to the proceedings. The game was abandoned as lightning, thunder and torrential rain rendered conditions unplayable, leaving the scoreline blank.

Match Commissioner Parmanand Mandrekar called off the match.
