MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Churchill Brothers SC in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.

Sesa FA struck a goal in each session of play through skipper Shridharnath Gawas (20th minute) and Sankalp Kankonkar (69th minute).

After Sunday’s win Sesa FA have three points from two matches, while Churchill Brothers suffered their fourth successive loss and are yet to open their account.

In the first five minutes of the match, Red Machine’s skipper Trijoy Dias who took the field after two match suspension missed two open sitters from inside the penalty box.

After much probing, Sesa FA who had lost last league match against new entrants Clube de Salgaocar opened their account in the 20th minute of play. Sankalp Kankonkar controlled a long kick from his goalkeeper and darted inside the 18-yard box only to find Churchill Brothers defender Atharv Dandekar come with a harsh tackle, prompting Referee Ritesh Parsekar to point to the dreaded spot.

Sesa FA’s skipper Shridharnath Gawas shouldered the responsibility and scored from the penalty spot, 1-0.

Play was then mostly restricted to midfield play.

On crossing ends, Sesa FA’s coach Charles Dias brought in Clencio Pinto, Chaitan Dabolkar from the substitution bench and later Sachidanand Satelkar which brought teeth in the Sesa FA’s attack upfront.

In the 70th minute, Clencio Pinto took a quick throw in to his partner Omkar Shetgaonkar who in turn sent an intelligent through pass to Sankalp Kankonkar, who coolly placed the ball into the far corner of the goal, 2-0.

Trailing by two goals, Churchill Brothers coach Vaman Chari replaced five of his North East players with all Goan players and they came with series of attacks but Sesa FA’s last line of defence marshaled by Clive Miranda and Shridharnath Gawas along with goalkeeper Sapam Singh failed to bulge under pressure.
