MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club managed to walk past Pax of Nagoa SC by 3-1 margin, in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.

After Monday’s win, Dempo SC have nine points, while Pax of Nagoa stays on three points, after their fourth GPL match.

For the winners, striker Shubham Rawat netted the first and the third goal, with Vinay Harji netting the second. For Pax of Nagoa SC Joywin Carneiro pulled a goal. Both teams came in match with a win from their last GPL match.

In the 8th minute, Golden Eagles forged ahead where striker Shubham collecting a long ball from medio Kapil Hoble, intelligently lobbed the ball over the onrushing Pax of Nagoa SC’s goalkeeper Vishal Sunar, 1-0.

Pax of Nagao SC should have levelled terms in the very next minute but a stiff grounder by Sarineo Fernandes travelled just past the goal post.

In the 12th minute, Dempo SC’s medio Arnold Oliveira drove a power-packed right footer from outside the penalty box, where rival goalkeeper Vishal fumbled in his collection, but before Knerkitalang Bhum could connect Pax of Nagoa SC’s defender Nikson Castanha cleared the ball to safety.

At the other end, Pax of Nagoa SC’s Desmon Pereira sent a delightful cross to over lapping Ponif Vaz but the latter failed to nod the ball home.

Five minutes before the end of the first session, Knerkitalang Bhum drove a rasping right footer which was acrobatically saved by Pax of Nagoa SC’s custodian Vishal Sunar.

On crossing ends, in the very 6th minute, Shubham’s header off a cross from Daniel was saved by Pax of Nagoa SC’s custodian. However, the goalkeeper could do very little to stop substitute Vinay Harji from connecting Pruthmesh Pedenkar’s cross into the goal area, 2-0.

Pax of Nagoa SC never say die spirit saw them exert tremendous pressure on the rival citadel and came with four close attempts at the Dempo SC’s goal.

Substitute Adarsh Raj saw his power-packed left volley at the goalpost being fisted for a corner by Dempo SC’s custodian Ashish Sibi. Substitute Schubert Pereira saw his header saved by the goalkeeper and then minutes later his strike being blocked by Dempo SC’s defender for a corner.

Finally, in the 88th minute, free-kick specialist Nikson Castanha saw his strike come of the corner goal frame only to find Joywin Carneiro tap the ball into the net, 1-2.

While Pax of Nagao SC went all out in search of the equaliser, Dempo SC’s Shubham netted his brace in the stoppage time after getting the better of defender Joseph Clement and custodian Vishal to make it, 3-1.
