PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa will begin their All India Football Federation (AIFF) Club Futsal Championship against Bengaluru FC in New Delhi, today, at 7.30 p.m.
Sporting Clube de Goa earned their place in the National club championship on virtue of winning the State championship where the side went on to lift the crown remaining undefeated throughout the campaign.
“We have shuffled the squad a bit and added some new names in the list. We have Akeraj (Martins), Rohit (Totad), Llyod (Mascarenhas) and Joel (Colaco) joining the team for the nationals as we are serious about this competition,” stated Sporting Clube de Goa Manager Anthony Francis Vas.
Vas further stated that the team has been in good shape upon their arrival in New Delhi.
“Most of our players are the Goa Pro League players, but they are equally good in the sport. We will ensure that the side returns with some positive results. We are going to give our best in this championship,” added Vas. Sporting Clube de Goa are clubbed in Group B along with Kuppuraj FC, Speed Force FC and Bengaluru FC.
“We play our first match tomorrow against Bengaluru FC. They are a strong team and we know it wouldn’t be an easy outing tomorrow. But my players are positive and we will give our best in this competition,” stated Coach Vikram Mane. Ozen Silva will captain the Flaming Oranje in the inaugural edition of the National Club Futsal Championship.
