RAIA: St Anthony SC, Assolda, moved past Parish Youth Nuvem 6-4 via tie-breaker to march into the quarter-finals of 50th Custodio memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Sunday.

Moses D’Sa, the attacking midfielder, was the star of the match with his dribbling, passes and power-packed shots.

Parish Youth Nuvem defender Niclsu Colaco was at his best, while St Anthony SC striker Louise Noronha gave his best for his team. In the 9th minute, PY Nuvem had the first glance at the rival goal but striker Louise’s power-packed shot missed the target by a whisker. 

PY Nuvem striker Jonas Colaco shot from a close range but St Anthony SC goalkeeper Allwyn Faria was equal to the task. A sudden and foxy move by St Anthony SC turned the match with long ranger of Moses landing into the PY Nuvem net in the 20th minute.

Later, Alvito Dias of PY Nuvem equalised after sending a well- measured ball to Shenoy Colaco, who rose high and headed the ball into St Anthony SC net in the 46th minute.

Then in a counterattack, Valentine Carvalho doubled the lead for St Anthony in the 51th minute.

As the match coming to the final quarter, Sunny Fernandes of St Anthony SC after dribbling past PY Nuvem defenders shot from a close range but the PY Nuvem goalpost denied it. Later, PY Nuvem’s Jonas equalised 2-2 in the 56th minute. In the resultant tie-breaker, St Anthony SC proved to be the better shooters.
