MARGAO: The King's School, Sao Jose de Areal were crowned champions of the 1st CSC Girls U-15 inter-school Futsal Cup organised by Youth Futsal Academy in Memory of Miss Amanda Fernandes. They defeated Fatima Convent HS, Margao by 2-2 (3-1) via the tie-breaker at the Chowgule Futsal Court, on Tuesday.
Meloshka Carvalho gave Fatima Convent HS the lead by shooting the ball home from close range. 
Lillian Fernandes levelled the score as she reached to tap the ball in before the keeper could make a clean collection. 
Meloshka put Fatima Convent in the lead once again as a rasping right footed strike left the TKS keeper with no chance as Fatima went into the halftime break with a 2-1 lead. 
The second half kept everyone on the edge of their seats. 
Paloma Pires and Meloskha kept troubling the TKS defence but strong defending from Sania Cardozo and Aberny Mascarenhas and many vital saves from Leandra Pacheco kept TKS in the game. 
With a quarter of the half remaining, The Kings School found the equaliser through Kartika Rawat and managed to hold on at the back. 
The game ended 2-2 and so had to be decided from the dreaded spot.
In the tie-breaker, Kiyoshi Fernandes, Aberny, Kartika scored for the winners while Paloma Pires netted for Fatima Convent.
Earlier in the day, St Jude's HS Betalbatim rallied to beat Manovikas 4-2 to claim the third place trophy. Vinoshka Fernandes and Vienna Coelho scored a brace each for the winners. 
Abigail Barreto and Gretel Pereira scored for Manovikas.
In the Mothers friendly match (YFA parents) played before the final to promote women and girls futsal among all age groups the Phoenix Orange Warriors beat the Phoenix Black Ninjas 3-0. 
Fernanda Pereira Figueiredo scored a brace and Solania De Freitas scored one.
Pallavi Buyao, Principal (Primary section) Manovikas EMS was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Mukhtar Amlani of Cell Touch, Atkinson Fernandes and other dignitaries.
