RAIA: United Club of Verna outplayed Betalbatim Sports Club 3-1 in the inaugural match to move into the next round of all Goa inter-village football in memory of Nicholas Rodrigues played at SAG ground, Utorda.
United Club of Verna forged ahead in the 12th minute of play via a penalty which was converted by Savio Pereira. The score at lemon break was 1-0. Post resumption, UC Verna scored the third goal through the boots of Jesly Moniz, 3-0.
In the dying minutes of the match, Betalbatim Sports Club reduced the margin through Nayab Khan.
The man-of-match was awarded to Sheldon Pereira of United Club of Verna by Craig Rodrigues in presence of Fr Arvino Fernandes.
