Unbeaten Geno FC continue winning streak

MAPUSA: Unbeaten Geno FC had an easy outing as they drubbed Panjim Footballers by 5-1 margin in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.

Geno FC went into the breather with 3-1 margin.

Franky Oliveiro (19th minute), Hijan Singh (32nd minute), Flan Gomes (47th minute), Muhammad Rafi (72nd minute) and Krishna Gawas (81st minute) scored for the winners, while Ajay Raj (39th minute) pulled a goal for Panjim Footballers.

After much probing, Geno FC colts opened their account in the 17th minute from a defensive error by Panjim Footballers’ custodian and defender to find Flan Gomes set up Franky Oliveiro, who slotted the ball into the goal, 1-0.

In the 32nd minute, Geno FC’s skipper Lenston Alonso sent a through pass to overlapping Hijam Singh, who collected the ball and beat the onrushing Panjim Footballers’ goalkeeper, 2-0.

However, Panjim Footballers managed to reduce the margin in the 39th minute, where Ajay Raj controlled Veron Pereira free-kick and slammed the ball into the net, 2-1.

In the stoppage time of the first session, another mix up between the defender and goalkeeper Bhaskar saw Flan Gomes net in the third goal, 3-1.

On resumption of play, Geno FC carried on their onslaught and after series of attacks and missed opportunities saw Muhammad Rafi make it 4-1 in the 72nd minute of play as he headed the ball into the goal off Niraj corner

Geno FC’s hunger for goals did not end with Krishna Gawas got hold of a cut back pass from Prajot and finished it clinically, 5-1.
