RAIA: USC Seraulim Veterans scraped past Varca Veterans 5-4 via tie-breaker in the Seraulim Veterans Cup football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at Seraulim Church ground, on Saturday.

At regular end of regulation time, both teams were levelled 1-1.

USC Seraulim started attacking from the word go and the ball was seen all over the Varca territory, however, they failed to score.

In the run of play, Varca scored their first goal in the 16th minute through Apolinario Pereira, when his long shot from the center was misjudged by the goalkeeper Camilo Ferrao under the Seraulim goalpost to enter the net.

At the half time, Varca led 1-0.

USC Seraulim Veterans entered the field and went again into the attack. They finally succeeded to get the much-needed equaliser just seconds before the final hooter when Sandeep ran down the right flank and gave a well-measured pass to Jess, who beat the goalkeeper hands down to get the equaliser for Seraulim.

In the resultant tie-breaker, Sandeep Shanke, Sohan Da Costa, Kennedy Noronha and Steven Fernandes scored for USC Seraulim Veterans. Varca Veterans scored through Prashant Bandodkar, Henry Fernandes and Romeo Pereira.

Sandee Shanke, who saved the penalties of Francis Carvalho and Franscisco D’Costa, was later awarded the man-of-the-match by Saloni Da Costa.
