Goa Congress has warned that if CM Pramod Sawant does not announce the government's position on the investigation into the 'Cash for Govt Jobs' scam by the retired justices' commission by Monday, then a strong movement will be launched in the villages of the state against the scam.
It has been repeatedly made clear from the viral videos, audios and their records that the women arrested in this scam and their associates are directly related to the BJP. In such a situation, the Congress has raised the question of why the Chief Minister is still not saying anything to the opposition's demand to set up an independent commission to investigate the scam.
The Congress has also alleged that the Chief Minister and his associates are playing with the future of the unemployed youth of Goa by supporting corruption.
On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Congress strongly criticized the Chief Minister for the links with the BJP of the agents arrested so far in the 'Cash for Govt Jobs' scam.
The Congress has given the Chief Minister an ultimatum by Monday to announce the government's position on the opposition's demand that an independent commission be appointed to investigate this huge scam. If CM does not take steps in this regard, Congress has warned that a big agitation will be launched against this scam from next week by going door to door in the state.
Accusing that this huge scam was born by BJP ministers,
Congress state president Amit Patkar demanded that this BJP racket be exposed. He reiterated his demand that this investigation should be conducted through an independent commission to get to the root of this scam as the arrested women are directly connected to BJP, where the Party Leaders are trying to save skin by denying their connection.
Patkar ridiculed the Chief Minister's statement that the money of the people who have been looted will be returned by auctioning the properties of the arrested accused Patkar alleged that the Chief Minister is misleading the people by making such foolish statements without knowing the law.
The origin of this scam is BJP ministers and MLAs. Narendra Sawaikar, who said that Shruti Prabhugaonkar, who was arrested in this scam, is not from BJP, should tell what happened to the petition filed in the High Court in 2012 regarding job corruption ? Where did this money go? Was it recovered? Will Monserrate at least clarify this?
Amit Patkar ( President , GPCC )
Congress leader Ramakant Khalap also criticized the Chief Minister's statement on recovering money of victims .
Under which law is the Chief Minister going to recover the money ? For this, is it not necessary that the accused who have been arrested first be found guilty? Khalap raised this question.
An independent commission headed by a retired judge should be appointed to investigate this scam, and Narco tests should also be conducted on the arrested accused, so that the deeds of the bigwigs are revealed, Khalap demanded.
The Chief Minister's statement that the money of the trapped victims will be returned by selling the properties of the arrested accused is very childish and reveals ignorance of the law. First of all, a charge sheet will have to be filed against the arrested accused. Then the court will decide whether they are guilty or innocent. After that, the government must have a law under which the money can be returned to the victims by selling the properties of the accused in such crimes. And most importantly, for this, it will have to be proved in court that the victims had given this money only to get a job.
Adv. Ramakant Khalap (Congress leader)
Opposition leader Yuri Alemao also criticized the BJP and the Chief Minister.
We had repeatedly alleged in the assembly session that government jobs are being sold for money. But the Chief Minister did not take this seriously. He should know the reason for this, Alemao said.
The Chief Minister's silence on the demand to appoint an independent commission to investigate is shocking .
Alemao also alleged that the Sawant government has completely failed to find a way out of unemployment.
Every day new cases of this scam are coming out and what about the money that thousands of people have given so far in the hope of jobs? Will their money be returned? Alemao asked this question.
